Organized

Any one can and many individuals do create their own facebook page.
The school has no control on what any of these groups do.
I am guessing this alumni might have a bit of a connection to the school.

Looking for facebook groups connected to Lancaster High School, there are hundreds of them that have nothing to do with us.

I thought of a kind of a collation .. the alumni being the mother ship and those that joined would follow certain protocol

When you create a facebook it will give you a bunch of numbers. Before you have a certain amount of numbers you can change your group page name HERE

These group names can be changed after they have been up a while I tied it.

Contact any existing class group and see if they are interested.

Have them all change their group to something like
Lancaster High School Gales class of xxxx
And encourage them to use the mascot as the profile pic

With all in the collation using the same group name format, facebook will cluster them all together in sequence in a search (I think)

In their group have them include information about the alumni.. the mother ship

Allowing what people post is a job just for them.

After a while activity might dwindle but members will be able to join the big gang if they wanna.

Using the key words class of
For myself the fact that any did or did not graduate is moot.

It is a personal connection nothing to do if officials approved grades n let em walk across a stage.
Some just quit, get pregnant, move to other schools and some die.
Class of .. meaning if you were here you are one of the kids that were one of us.

( Don't know if it is now but when I went we had classes with others the grade before and after us)

While lots of class of xxxx are not created until graduation, it would be better if they were created in their first years of high school. They would have accounts of what happened while they were there, photos ... building a time capsule to reflect to in the coming years.

Their pages can have the music that was hot, places they hung out .. a time machine to back in the day.

I saw a university doing this, now the digital capsule is here

When I was in school I had pals in different grades not just my year.. and so it is with others.

Structure, classes being subsets of the Set (alumni)

***

Hope someone has worked with Google sheets.
Here I created a list of all classes

A place to add a link to the facebook page of each class.
An index link .. that would direct to that class index.. also a google sheet
their clubs, teachers, sports all information they want to share about their class.. not just the year they were to graduate but through all their high school years.

# Class of 2020 FB <> DIRECTORY
# Class of 2019 FB <> DIRECTORY
# Class of 2018 FB <> DIRECTORY
# Class of 2017 FB <> DIRECTORY
# Class of 2016 FB <> DIRECTORY

The alumni would manage this sheet. The # mark prefix indicates this is a link to the collation group.

The sheet can contain links to all things related to Lancaster high school

Golf FB <> WB
Football FB <> WB
Field Hockey FB <> WB
FFA FB <> WB
Cross Country FB <> WB
Cheer Leading FB <> WB
Bowling FB <> WB
Boosters FB <> WB

Clicking on data, sort sheet, all listings can be sorted in alphabetical order a to z or z to a..

1) Use a standard group name for each group (you can change yours)
2)  Use a standard image for your profile.

3)  List your class group on the alumni index

4)  Add a staff member of the alumni as an admin to your class group.

5) By tagging the alumni can broadcast information to all affiliate groups.

( Other than what individual grad years plan, arrange) There are bigger things the members of many classes might do.

The sheet I created  shared first so I can do stuff then it would be passed on to the alumni staff.

Not tying to do a bunch of stuff at a time, just one class would be linked to figure out how to do what, then following that pattern others could configure their media.
