I can not imagine collage students being able to pay for the houses, people who administrate their groups . The school? Who?
5) in order to keep the ball rolling through the years there would likely need to be a paid administration no different than other organized groups, having a mountain of volunteers with paid staff that keeps things going.
Fund raisers, contributions .. keeping track of the $$$ would need an accountant. Having a friend with a kid needing medical support, I told her about bank accounts .. when a certain amount was in it, anyone could send money to it with checks n apps. With any money going in an organization account and only be taken out that way there would be an account of what went in and every place or person it was paid to.
I can imagine why many businesses would be sponsors for such groups .. Finance would take planning.
I thought if there were other lhs well known grads to get involved it would attract lots more people on start up so I asked who some were HERE .
On an imaginary fishing trip.. to plant the seed that might grow 😋
An example of a non profit is The Junior Achievement. Some of the strings tied to them here

I sent them a message with the concept thinking they might have a reason to check out the possibilities .

Yes after looking at non profit groups it looks like high school students (present and past) can set up a non profit group.
Registered with the government as tax exempt (I think) then you would think about structure .. votes on a board maybe. Not a simple task, I am guessing there is a high school business class where a teacher would guide you to the questions to ask
How to chose who would set the agenda .. election .. hmmm
